Kevin P. Smith is a senior vice president and the Chief Administrative Officer for the Fannie Mae Foundation, which is the largest foundation in the country devoted to increasing the supply of homes for those who need them the most. In this capacity, he provides executive leadership, vision, and oversight for the treasury and portfolio management, finance and accounting, and program support services. He is also responsible for oversight of administrative and human resources services, oversees the Foundation's physical working environment, and directs the Foundation's risk management and insurance programs, including the contract management and procurement processes.
As a member of the senior management team, Smith helps define the Foundation's strategic direction. He directs the Foundation's Capital for Communities strategic business initiative, which focuses on identifying barriers preventing a freer flow of capital to underserved communities across the country, and development of products and services to effectively minimize or eliminate these barriers. He is also responsible for the Foundation's Community and Neighborhood Development Fund, a $30 million housing and community development loan fund dedicated to promoting the construction and preservation of affordable homeownership and housing opportunities.
Prior to joining the Fannie Mae Foundation, Smith was director of finance for the Corporate Information Services Division of Fannie Mae, director of finance and accounting for the Prime Group, regional financial manager for Sunoco, and group controller for the Rouse Company. He holds an M.B.A. degree from American University and a B.S. degree from the University of Maryland, and he is a Certified Public Accountant licensed in Maryland.
