Ellen Baxter, founder and executive director of Broadway Housing Communities in New York, N.Y., is nationally known for her vision, innovation, and dedication to creating comprehensive, replicable model programs to address the problems of homelessness and disadvantage.

Robert Calvillo, executive director of McAllen Affordable Homes, Inc. (MAHI) in McAllen, Texas, conceptualized and implemented the MAHI community development model. This model vertically integrates the housing development process within a nonprofit and facilitates homeownership for low-income, minority families.

Diane Sterner, executive director and founding director of the Housing and Community Development Network of New Jersey, directs the statewide association of community-based development organizations, which was created in 1989 to enhance the efforts of organizations that support affordable housing and community development, to create affordable housing and revitalize their communities, and to improve the climate for community development in New Jersey.

Dee Walsh has been the executive director of REACH Community Development since 1990. Walsh is responsible for the overall management of REACH, its staff of 45 employees, an annual budget of $3.9 million, and a portfolio of more than 800 units of affordable housing.
