Foreclosure Prevention: Preserving Affordable Homes and Vital Communities
Foreclosure can turn the American dream of homeownership into a nightmare for families, financial institutions, and local governments. Fortunately, state and local governments and various public and private entities are implementing innovative solutions to foreclosure problems.

Daley describes how his city combated the growing problem of foreclosures by launching the Home Ownership Preservation Initiative, a unique partnership among a local nonprofit (Neighborhood Housing Services, Inc.), the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago, and Chicago's leading financial institutions.
