Housing in the Nation's Capital 2005

Housing in the Nation's Capital 2005 focuses on how the Washington region's sustained prosperity has transformed housing market conditions and trends in the District of Columbia. More specifically, this year's report assesses how the city's neighborhoods are changing and explores the consequences for the city's residents, especially in the area of housing affordability. Although all of the District's neighborhoods have experienced substantial housing cost increases in recent years, the report documents substantial differences in price levels and appreciation rates across the city, and uses this information as the basis for proposing tailored housing and community development strategies.
